Witbank Combined Christian School roars into action

The milestone reached by the school, thus far, was a daunting process littered with fear, doubts, negativity, trepidation, frustration and near sense of rejection and resignation

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step is a common saying that originated from a famous Chinese proverb.

This saying teaches that even the longest and most difficult ventures have a starting point.

Mr Blessing Phiri said the registration of Witbank Combined Christian School in January 2019, by the Mpumalanga Department of Education is the single step to begin an arduous journey in education where we trust and believe that the almighty God will shepherd us throughout.

The milestone reached by the school, thus far, was a daunting process littered with fear, doubts, negativity, trepidation, frustration and near sense of rejection and resignation.

The belief of providing quality education based on Christian values is what kept this school going.

The determination displayed by the parents and guardian’s staff and learners who believe in our vision is highly commendable.

The first term of 2019 saw work start in earnest at the school. The following is a chronicle of notable achievements within the first three months of its inception.

It’s incredible to say the least.

The boys have been moved into the more comfortable chalets where they are staying in pairs in a room.

For security purposes, we have erected a 2m high fence around the chalets.

A lockable gate has also been put in place for movement control and privacy.

Plans are underway to acquire more accommodation in safer and comfortable places.

Management encourages as many of our learners to be in hostels so that they may access extra help from our highly educated, experienced and dedicated teachers.

Throughout the term, random searches were conducted and learners who were found with unwanted substances were reprimanded.

This was done with the involvement of parents. On February 2, we invited the SAPS for an operational search for learners who are 15 years old and above.

The team led by Sergeant Opperman found the school clean in drug related substances.

No unwanted substance such as sharp objects or knives, not even a cigarette!

We congratulate our no-nonsense management team, staff, parents and our learners for this.

Discipline is the cornerstone on which we intend to build the future of our learners on.

Wow! What a feat!

Flying Eagle Soccer Academy.

The second term promises to be eventful as well with the launch of the Flying Eagle Soccer Academy, a soccer development program especially targeting learners attending our school and the surrounding community.

The program aims to identify and nurture God given talent in soccer.

For us soccer is not only for entertainment but an alternative career path for our community of learners.

This promises to be very exciting and we all cannot wait to see the fun and sweat begin.

“Catch them young” is our motto.

The computer laboratory work is progressing well for the establishment of a computer learning centre.

Beginning second term Grades 10 and 11 will be given the option to do Computer Application Technology (CAT) as a subject.

Again this will open up career opportunities in the technical field for our learners.

The science laboratory at the school has acquired some apparatus and chemicals for practical experiments conducted by the high school science learners.

The science laboratory should be operational during the second term.

As from 2020, the school will offer bursaries only to disadvantaged families.

We are definitely the future in the education field. With God on our side, we will overcome all the challenges we are going to experience as we travel.

God bless Witbank Combined Christian School.
