Stage 4 loadshedding to continue today

Eskom’s maintenance teams are hard at work at our power stations in order to return units to the system

Eskom to loadshed throughout on Sunday

On Sunday, March 17 Eskom will continue with rotational loadshedding throughout the day.

Stage 4 will be from 08:00 to 23:00 on Sunday.

Eskom is currently implementing Stage 4 loadshedding due to the loss of capacity which included imports from Mozambique. At this stage, it appears unlikely that the imports from Mozambique will be restored in the next few days, which we can now confirm was affected by the cyclone.

Eskom’s maintenance teams are hard at work at our power stations in order to return units to the system.

Stage 2 calls for 2000MW, Stage 3 calls for 3000MW, and Stage 4 calls for 4000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period.

Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience during this difficult period.

We appeal to customers to switch off geysers during the day as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.

Remember to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.

Customers are advised to keep checking their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom and their municipal website.

For Eskom customers, these schedules are available on the Eskom website (https://loadshedding.eskom.co.za).
