Two armed response officers were shot through their vehicle windows in Voortrekker Road.
Just after 21:00 on Monday, January 28 an alarm went off at one of the businesses in Voortrekker Road.
An armed response officer from CSC Tactical attended to the alarm and completed his security check.
“There was no forced entry or break-in, the business was clear,” explained management from CSC Tactical.
After the response officer completed his check, he got back into his vehicle and started to complete his occurrence book to give feedback.
“That was when he was shot from behind through his vehicle, 16 rounds were fired,” management from CSC stated.
It is alleged that a security guard from Secure Access drove past the scene where this occurred after he heard gunshots.
“While he was driving by the anonymous shooter shot him through his vehicle window.”
Responders from the Community Policing Forum (CPF), South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and police rushed to the scene.
Emergency services were dispatched and paramedics from Langamed and JD Med arrived on scene.
The armed response officer from CSC Tactical was found in his vehicle, already deceased.
The guard from Secure Access was attended to by Langamed paramedics and rushed to Life Cosmos Hospital.
The guard was identified as Godfrey Masangu.
“He was transferred to Millpark Hospital in Johannesburg at about midnight last night. He was operated on and the bullet was removed. Currently he is stable but he is still in high care,” Secure Access management said.
The anonymous shooter could not be found but the investigation continues.
