Witbank High School rugby players have a big brother

When Thabo Mamojele, founder of Big Brother in Rugby (BBR) was addressing rugby players of Witbank High School, he was speaking with passion and the love he has for the sport.

Mamojele is a former professional rugby player; he thanks the school for giving them an opportunity to train the children in rugby.

Mamojele has partnered with Howard Kuhlase of Pumas.

Some of the children have been offered an opportunity by the school for a free education while they play rugby.

He believes the children will have an opportunity of a lifetime and will have a chance to uplift their families and their community after completing their studies.

The children will also have an opportunity to further their careers in rugby.

“I would like to thank the headmaster of the school, Mr Oskin Usinga for giving these children an opportunity of a life time. He had shown that he is a supportive parent by lifting the community of eMalahleni via sport. The children will have an opportunity to compete provincial and nationally in the National School championships during the winter and summer championships,” explained Mamojele.

He also added to say that rugby involves a lot of other issues, issues of nutrition, physical conditioning, resources, training facilities and others.

He said even though they are faced with some challenges, Witbank High at least have the training facilities and was hopeful that the children will grab the opportunity with both hands.

Mamojele challenges the parents to support their children in their sporting journey and urged community members to come on board as well.

He also challenges business people to support them as well.

He said he was trying his best to teach the children the correct things because they will grow to learn about discipline, teamwork and life skills.

“Sport helps the children to focus, to change things around and cope with challenges. We are going to teach the children many other life skills because we have been there. It is all about teamwork and aiming high. We want the children to write their names in history and it can be done.”
