Man sentenced to 20 years for the murder of his wife

Paramedics declared her dead on the scene.

A man was sentenced to 20 years after he was found guilty of murdering his wife.

Boy John Mbonani was sentenced on Thursday, January 10.

The two policemen who worked tirelessly to see this case signed off on a positive note was Sgt Johannes Ntuli and Sgt Sanyana Mtsweni.

The murder investigation started on October 2, 2016 when the police was called to a scene where they found Mbonani’s wife lying on the ground next to their house.

She was unconscious and blood was coming out of her mouth.

Paramedics declared her dead on the scene.

As the investigation progressed it was discovered that the couple had a history of domestic violence.

After an argument on that fateful night, Mbonani stabbed his wife with a knife.

“Crime does not pay. We are asking the community to work hand in hand with us to combat crime. Break the chain of domestic violence and any other kind of abuse,” said police spokesperson Const Angel Makubu.
