Emalahleni executive mayor Cllr Linah Malatjie together with Mr Moulana Mohammed Motala of the Al-Imdaad Foundation and the Witbank Muslim Jamaat brought joy, happiness and the spirit of Christmas to community members of MNS and Spring Valley.

Mayor Malatjie together with Mr Moulana Mohammed Motala of the Al-Imdaad Foundation and Mr Farook Arbee, secretary of the Witbank Muslim Jamaat in their presentation of food parcels said they brought these out of love and compassion.

The presentation in these two areas was held on Saturday, December 8.

The organisations were thanked by the mayor for coming on board in supporting and caring for the deserving families.

She said they were reaching out and showing love and they believe that will make a different in the lives of the people of these areas.

Mr Farook Arbee, secretary of the Witbank Muslim Jamaat said their Islamic believe taught them that in order to have mercy they must give.

He said they need to show care, love and support to fellow men.

He said they have seen on television how other people suffer and that is why they extended their love and care to other people.

He said they were humbled to be part of the delegation of the executive mayor.

He also indicated that they have other programmes that they do in the different communities and that they hold them very close to their hearts.

Mr Moulana Mohammed Motala of the Al-Imdaad Foundation had to make a special trip from Durban just to be with the people from these areas.

He said the elderly people have a special place in his heart because they struggled and fought for the freedom we are enjoying.

He indicated that they have partnered with Saveways to make these possible.
