On Tuesday, December 11 a man was hijacked at Clearwater Estate. This follows after him and a friend was at the bank, withdrawing money.

The victim told police that from the bank they drove to Pine Ridge. He added that he fetched a bag from home and put the money inside and then drove to Clearwater Estate with his friend, to wait for a client.

He further told police that while they waited outside Clearwater Estate, around 45 minutes later three men approached the vehicle, one man had a firearm.

He added that the suspects instructed them to lie down on the ground and they searched the victim and took his cell phone.

The victims drove off with the vehicle of the complainant as well as the cash still inside the vehicle.

Legacy Emergency Specialists were dispatched and paramedics treated the patients on scene.

Rassie van der Lith, chairperson of the SACCW supported neighbourhood watch group in Jackaroo Park said that after the incident, they patrolled the area.

“We did a thorough patrol and just as the sun set, a resident of Jackaroo Park contacted me, stating that there is a suspicious vehicle on the dirt road at the railway crossing. He just spotted the vehicle,” Van der Lith said.


The vehicle after it was recovered by SACCW responders.

He said that the vehicle was abandoned and that the doors were wide open.

He added:

“We set out to the area and confirmed that it was indeed the vehicle that was hijacked earlier that day. We then handed it over to the police.”
