Unfortunately for police, many times cases are not opened because it is not required at the bank, only an affidavit.

On Wednesday, November 28 card scammers were chased from Tasbet Park to Kendall, and bank cards were thrown out of the window of the moving vehicle, allegedly to these scammers.

15 Bank cards were picked up in Voortrekker Street and all evidence was given to the police.

Capt Eddie Hall, media spokesperson urged the public to open cases at the Witbank Police Station, should you be a victim of any crime, including ATM-scamming.

“This adds to our crime statistics. According to the crime statistics, vehicles and officers are allocated to stations. We need to be informed about every single crime, including these scammings,” Capt Hall said.
