A man in his late twenties, residing in Ben Fleur in a house across from Ben Fleur Boulevard, was sitting in his room on Sunday evening when suddenly three strangers barged in.

The three unknown men didn’t hesitate in pointing a gun at the resident in order to subdue him; locking him in his room with this implied threat whilst they ransacked his home.

The resident saw being caged in his own bedroom as an opportunity and immediately contacted his housemate. His housemate phoned the police and raced to their house with Witbank’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) in tow.

With the Ben Fleur resident freed from his room, he was able to access the losses which he suffered. It is estimated that approximately R16 000’s worth of items were stolen from the home, including a laptop and a cellphone.

Upon noticing that he had stirred the two residents of Dixon Street from their slumber, the unknown man armed with a crowbar decided that the best course of action would be to beat one of the residents mercilessly whilst his accomplice emptied the home of its most obviously valuable contents.
