Young boy shot dead through open window

A family was peacefully asleep inside their home on Barracks farm in Ga-Nala when a random shooting through an open window occurred.

A family was peacefully asleep inside their home on Barracks farm in Ga-Nala when a random shooting through an open window occurred.

No one knows who it could have been or what the motive for this hideous crime was.

It is alleged that on Saturday, October 20, an 11-year old boy, Tebogo Malinga was shot dead inside his grandparent’s house through an open window.

The shooting occurred at about 03:00 am.

Tebogo was shot in the chest and allegedly tried to run to his grandparent’s room, the suspect however followed him and shot his grandfather, Lucas Kwilinga in the thigh.

A family member phoned the police and they arrived on the scene. To their disappointment the suspect already fled and police could not find him.

Tebogo sadly passed away on scene and emergency services managed to get his grandfather to Witbank General Hospital just in time.

His injuries were treated and he was released from hospital on Sunday, October 21.

“We don’t know who did this or why they did this, we are still waiting for the police to investigate the case,” explained Tebogo’s mother, Cynthia Malinga

Tebogo attended Nklankla Primary School in Ga-Nala, he was in grade five.


Tebogo Malinga passed away on October 20.

His funeral was held on Friday, October 26 where his friends and family was given the opportunity to greet him for the very last time.

“We now live with a family member because we are too scared to return back to our home on the farm,” concluded Cynthia Malinga.

A firearm that was found on the scene is believed to be the complainant’s.

Kriel SAPS are still investigating the case of murder and attempted murder.
