Good Samaritans came to the rescue of an unfortunate victim, who was stabbed three times.

This happened on Sunday, November 4 when the victim was hiking and got a lift from the suspects, driving an unknown white vehicle.

He said:

“I wanted a lift home and these guys picked me up. As we drove they just randomly stopped and a guy started to stab me in my leg. They took my wallet, two cell phones and house keys and dropped me off on a dirt road.”

Willie van der Merwe is helping the victim to walk after he was stabbed in his leg, three times.

Fortunately for the victim, cyclists drove on this particular dirt road as part of their route and stopped to help him, minutes after the incident happened.

Mr Andrè Potgieter, one of the cyclists said that they found the man on the dirt road going to the SPCA and they asked for help from the neighbourhood watch.

Mr David Wessels set out to the scene and dispatched Mr Charles Steyn to the area for emergency care until paramedics arrived.

“They could not reach the state ambulance, and we left as the man was taken care of,” Potgieter said.

Steyn added that as he arrived on scene, he wrapped the victim’s leg with bandages.

“He had three lacerations on his right leg, one very deep and bleeding viciously. We could not reach the state ambulance and we would like to extend our greatest gratitude to the paramedics from ER24 who assisted, even though the patient did not have medical aid. I put three bandages on his leg, and it quickly became blood red because of all the blood. He would have bled out if we didn’t act fast and get him to the hospital,” Steyn said.

The victim.

“ER24 dispatch centre in Johannesburg also tried calling the state ambulance from their side, but they could not at all be reached.”

The victim said, after the incident that the cyclists saved his life.

He is eternally grateful to them for helping, and everyone who assisted and saved his life.
