TUT Strike – 60% pass rate is too high for them

A group of electrical students from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in eMalahleni went on strike after receiving the news that the percentage to pass has increased to 60%.

A group of electrical students from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in eMalahleni went on strike after receiving the news that the percentage to pass has increased to 60%.


Police busy monitoring the situation.

On Thursday, September 20, a group of students gathered outside their campus and they danced and burned tyres. Members from the SACCW along with Witbank SAPS attended to the matter.

The group was monitored and the protest stayed peaceful.

“How can they expect us to go from a 30% pass rate in school to a 60% pass rate now?” one of the students asked.

WITBANK NEWS struggled to get information from the students as they didn’t really want to talk about why they were striking.
