House robberies are taking a hike in the city of eMalahleni as two houses in different suburbs were targets the past week.

An incident that occurred in the CBD (Central Business District) left more that five people without cell phones on July 14. It is alleged that the owner of the premises in French Street were having friends over when four men bashed into his home.

One of the suspects was armed and wore a balaclava as the other three did not bother to hide their faces. They allegedly demanded the group of friends to lie down while they searched each person for their cell phones.

In another incident that occurred in Die Heuwel on July 19, two armed suspects forced their way into a house.

It is alleged that the man living in the house woke up from a noise coming from outside and went and woke up his housemate. The noise moved to the kitchen door and suddenly two suspects made their way into the house.

It is believed that the two scared victims ran to a bedroom and locked themselves in as they saw the armed robbers. The robbers stole two cell phones and their wallets.

No arrests have been made as they fled the scene.
