Bucket system tilts the scale in court

It has been more than six months now that the ladies staff, as well as visitors to the eMalahleni Magistrate Court aren’t able to use clean hygienic restrooms.

It has been more than six months now that the ladies staff, as well as visitors to the eMalahleni Magistrate Court aren’t able to use clean hygienic restrooms.

The restrooms are in a terrible state. There aren’t even seats on the toilets for the women to sit on.

Buckets full of water are stacked in the bathrooms and a bucket system is used in order to flush the toilets.
The floors are soaking wet and it is extremely dirty.

On Tuesday, June 29, WITBANK NEWS reached out to the manager of the court about the state of the restrooms.

“I am investigating the conditions and will come back to you shortly,” said Mr Thulani Mabena, the court manager.

Mr Mabena also said that he wasn’t aware of any problems with the bathrooms at the court.

“Those bathrooms are only open to determine weather they need maintenance or a complete revamp,” said Mabena.

It is alleged that the entire court building is scheduled for a revamp and maintenance but no specific time or date could be given.

Now almost a month later there has been no improvement in the state of the restrooms at the court.
