The 19-year old Thato Surprise Mapheele went missing on Saturday, June 30.

It was believed by his mother that he left his aunt’s house in Klarinet at about 17:00. During the investigation leads came in from the community that Thato was last seen trying to get transport to leave the “Emalahleni Spin City” event on June 30 at 23:00 and has not been seen since.


Witbank SAPS called for a search party together with SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch), Witbank Missing Persons unit for Thato Surprise Mapheele.

Clothes worn at disappearance were light blue jeans with zips on the legs of the pants, black and grey jersey and white All Star tekkies.
On Saturday, July 7, Sgt Mogahi from Witbank SAPS called for a search party together with SACCW (South African Community Crime Watch), Witbank Missing Persons unit to conduct a routine search from leads that came in on the investigation of missing person Thato Surprise Mapheele.

SACCW responders joined the Standerton K9 dog unit on a foot patrol of a large area. Theo Luus assisted with a drone during the search. A final clearance of the area was done by Casper Janse van Rensburg conducting a helicopter search of the entire area.

Unfortunately no further clues were found in the area but nevertheless this search party has assisted in eliminating this area from the investigation.
