The infrastructure is claiming our water

No water, no electricity and no rubbish removal are nothing out of the ordinary

Living in the City of Coal does come with its challenges. No water, no electricity and no rubbish removal are nothing out of the ordinary.

Some residents are now fed up with not having water and electricity and some areas have been without water for several days.

In Ingrid Street, the water was off for six days and in Second Street for the whole Sunday.

We want water

WITBANK NEWS contacted Emalahleni Local Municipality for feedback about the problem and Mr Kingdom Mabuza, municipal spokesperson said that the main problem with the water infrastructure is that it is old.

“It has reached its lifespan. We are busy with repairs in most parts of eMalahleni but we are worried with the inconvenience residents have to go through without water for longer periods. We are doing everything possible to restore water in areas where taps are dry. To mitigate, we are also sending out water tanks to all affected areas,” said Mabuza.
