This quote is an exact resemblance of the situation in and around eMalahleni. It is not unusual to hear of house robberies in our city. One wonders what has happened in this world if not even your own home can be considered as safe?
It is alleged that on Monday, 28 May, a women went to bed with a sound mind knowing that everything was in order, until early on the morning of May 29. It is believed that on Tuesday, May 29 at about 00:15, the woman was woken by a noise. Allegedly she saw an African male standing by her window pointing a gun towards her.
“Do not make a noise or else I will shoot you,” was the words of the suspect.

Brave girl keeps calm in house robbery
Allegedly the suspect then entered the house and demanded money and a laptop from the woman. It is believed that she had neither money nor a laptop. The suspects then allegedly started collecting items from the house along with her car keys.
The suspects loaded the stolen items into the vehicle and drove off. The car was recovered at the gate and all the items were still intact. Another house robbery took place on Sunday, 3 May at about 02:30 in the morning. It is alleged that a woman was sleeping when she heard some movement in the house. Allegedly the woman got up to see what was going on.
It is believed that she found an African male in her house telling her to go back to sleep while pointing a knife towards her. Another male appeared and started to claim her property. No arrests have yet been made and police are still investigating the case.
There are a few things that you can do to prevent robberies or at least minimise the risk of house robberies.

It will be a good idea to have alarm and security sensors especially in the garage as that is often the main point of entry. You need strong doors and good locks. It is also clever to invest in burglar bars. They also suggest that you should rather have layers of security systems than one single system.
