Car hijacked in Kwa-Thema found near Ga-Nala

You can run but you cannot hide. After a good chase by police, two suspects were nabbed for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.


The 26-year-old suspect lies in hospital under police guard after being shot. He was chased by police and arrested for being found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

On Thursday, May 3 around 13:40 Kriel SAPS received a call from Secunda flying squad members together with a tracking company for back up as they chased a black Toyota Conquest.


The suspects were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

It is believed that the vehicle was hijacked at Kwa-Thema, Springs. The suspects aged 26 and 31 dumped the hijacked vehicle at a farm near Ga-Nala and ran into the bushes. The police officers chased them up until Rooiblom Farm.

The one suspect aged 26 shot the owner of the farm on his hand. The owner at the time of the shooting was busy working in his farm. The farmer opened fire and shot the suspect on his left upper arm and back.

The police managed to arrest the injured suspect and the 31-year-old suspect that was hiding in the nearby grass.

On scene police recovered two firearms, ammunition and the hijacked vehicle was booked in as an exhibit.


The black Toyota Conquest that was hijacked in Kwa-Thema was found near Ga-Nala.

The injured suspect was taken to a local hospital where he is currently under police guard. The 31-year-old suspect was taken to the police station. A case of attempted murder, possession of stolen motor vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition was opened.


The 31-year-old suspect was denied bail when he appeared before the Kriel Magistrate Court. He was found in possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
