A man that opened a false car hijacking case at the police station has been locked up.

On Sunday, April 22 the man was supposed to go to work but he did not, he called his supervisor at work and told him he was hijacked.

His supervisor requested that he brings to work a case number as proof that the incident happened when he returns from work.

The man opened a false case of car hijacking at the Witbank Police Station.

On Wednesday morning, April 25 the man visited the police station to confess that he lied about the case he opened a few days earlier.

The man said his vehicle was at home and he was never hijacked. He was arrested for obstructing the course of justice.

Witbank police spokesperson Capt Eddie Hall warned people to not open false cases. In this regard the state wasted its resources looking for a car that was never hijacked.

“Please do not lie as if you do, you will be arrested. Stop it!” warned Capt Hall.
