Glencore gives White Rose Hospice a cash boost

To further strengthen healthcare in the communities they operate in, Glencore donated R883 000 to date, to the White Rose Hospice.

The last stages for terminally ill patients are often plagued with pain and suffering. White Rose Hospice, a non-profit organisation, understands the importance of making these moments comfortable and peaceful for these patients.

To further strengthen healthcare in the communities they operate in, Glencore donated R883 000 to date, to the White Rose Hospice. The hospice started off as a home-based care organisation, but soon after opened its in-patient unit in November 2003.

Glencore’s donation will go towards supporting the patient care at the hospice. Currently, the hospice is home to 308 patients in its home-based care programme and 16 patients in its in-patient unit.

“We are happy to make this donation to an organisation with such a noble cause. Caring for terminally-ill patients in their last days is both honourable and admirable. We salute the individuals that give so selflessly of themselves to care for these patients in the moments/time of greatest need. This donation is in line with Glencore’s continued efforts to affect positive, sustainable change in our surrounding local communities.”

Manager at White Rose Hospice, Magda Esterhuizen, said,

“We are sincerely grateful to Glencore for supporting us during these difficult economic times. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our patients.”
