Toddler found next to Watermeyer Street still unidentified

One month has past since the body of the five year old girl was found by emergency personnel from ER24.

The body of a toddler, found on the corner of Fouché and Watermeyer Street, left a shock wave in the city.

According to the pathology report the cause of death was pneumonia.

On March 15 a couple, who’s child went missing from Kwa-Zulu Natal heard about the incident and immediately came to eMalahleni to find out more about the case.

“We are on our way to Witbank as a body of a little girl was found last week, we are on our way to see if it’s our baby girl. We are praying so hard it’s not our Siphesihle,” the parents posted on their missing child’s group – Help Find Missing Siphesihle.

The body was not that of the missing Siphesihle Dlamini.

Who the child is and how she got to the place where her body was found remains a mystery.

“The body is still not identified and we will be investigated further as this is a priority case for Witbank Police,” Sgt David Ratau, spokesperson for Witbank Police added.

The police are asking the parents to come and identify their child. They can contact the SAPS pathology on 013 656 0981.
