Will the drug problem in eMalahleni ever end?

This question needs an answer because as police do their patrols, there is a guarantee that someone will be nabbed for a substance. This past week four suspects were arrested for drugs.

A recent incident took place on Sunday afternoon, April 8 at Old Coronation. As the men in blue were patrolling the area, the suspect was stopped and searched. He was arrested for being in possession of drugs.

When police were conducting a drug operation in the early hours of Friday, April 6, a suspect was locked behind bars. He had two small bags containing white powder suspected to be drugs.

More arrests were made in the Central Business District when police received information about a house situated in French Street selling drugs. When the officials visited the house they found two men. When they searched the first man he was found with 72 pieces of drugs and the second man was found with nothing. The total value of drugs can amount to R3 600.

The last arrest was made on Wednesday afternoon, April 4. Passenger’s journey had to be stopped for a short while when a vehicle they were travelling in, a white Toyota quantum was pulled off the road. This was done as part of the police’s operation at Middelburg Toll Plaza. People were asked to alight in order for the minibus to be searched.

Nothing was found in the vehicle so the police then searched the passenger’s bags. Here they found a plastic bag which had dagga inside wrapped in brown tape. The mass and weight of the dagga is 2,794kg.
