‘I don’t understand how they got past the dogs’

This Easter weekend was all but joyous for the Smith family.

This Easter weekend was all but joyous for the Smith family.

On the night of March 30 the family went to church to celebrate Easter. They arrived back at their house on the Jackaroo plots at about 22:00.

“I noticed that the kitchen light was switched off, I immediately knew something wasn’t right because we always leave the lights on,” said Mr Smith.

He instructed his wife and son to stay in the kitchen while he searched the house.

“As I walked through the hallway I saw wet footprints near our back door.”

Brave girl keeps calm in house robbery

The family is shocked that the suspects managed to get past the dogs.

“We have two Pit bulls that were inside the house while we were away, I don’t understand how the robbers managed to get past them without being bitten,” said Mrs Smith.

It is alleged that the suspects got away with two televisions, two i-Pads, three laptops, a tom-tom running watch and the house keys.

“The robbers even hid all of our spare car keys in my bedside table,” confirmed Mr Smith.

Just one of the bizarre signs left at the scene of the robbery.

“They left stones all over our house, these stones looked more like markers than weapons,” said Mr Smith.

It is alleged that stones were packed in the main bedroom, in front of the bathroom door, and on Mr Smith’s farm hat.

“What upsets me the most is the fact that they had the audacity to leave my bible open on my bed,” said Mr Smith.

It is believed that on February 10, Mr Smith got a phone call from one of his workers that stay in MNS near the Verena road. He told Mr Smith that there are men planning to rob them as he is a target.

One wonders if it’s the same suspects that made these threats in February earlier this year.

No arrests have been made yet and the police are still investigating the case.
