Emalahleni Local Municipality has a new mayor.
Cllr Linah Malatjie was elected as Honourable Executive Mayor of Emalahleni during a special council sitting that was held earlier today.
Her nomination was unopposed and a loud cheer and song followed her appointment on Thursday, April 5.
In her opening address she said she will serve the people of Emalahleni.
She said she draws her inspiration from the late Nelson Mandela.
She quoted Mandela, “We know it very well that none of us acting alone can achieve success, we must therefore act together a united people.”
While this sentence still echoed in the council chamber she extended a hand and invited opposition parties together with the governing party to work together and focus on improving people’s lives.
