Man nabbed with stolen goods

The South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and the Model Park neighbourhood watch team caught a suspect with suspected stolen goods.

Indeed two heads are better than one. The South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) and the Model Park neighbourhood watch team caught a suspect with suspected stolen goods.


Man was caught after he broke into a house in Die Heuwel.

On Thursday afternoon, March 8 an alarm signal was received at a house in Rotterdam Street in Die Heuwel.

On inspection, a SACCW Responder found that the house had been broken into.

A quick patrol of the area proved successful when the responder spotted the suspect with a bag of stolen goods. Backup was then called from the Model Park neighbourhood watch group.

After a short chase the suspect was caught in Neven Street with the stolen goods. When asked why he broke into the house, he denied breaking in and alleged that he found the bag lying on the ground.

Shortly after, he apologised stating that he will not steal again as he did not know the items he took had a owner.

A number of people that drove and walked past Neven Street expressed their anger after hearing what the man did.

“Oh! It is you that breaks into our houses. I am very glad that you got caught,” said a woman as she drove past.

Another passer by said,

“Did you really do it? I am so disappointed in you homeboy.”

The suspect was transported to Witbank SAPS by Vital Security and a case of house break-in was opened.
