A family is in desperate need of food and supplies after their house burnt down last week.

A family is in desperate need of food and supplies after their house burnt down last week.

On Tuesday, March 6 little pleas came from a child whose house just caught fire. Mr Phillip Nkosi said that the Mahlangu- house caught fire for an unknown reason and the child who was in the house, ran to Ms Samaria Mahlangu, owner of the house to tell her that the top part of their double story house is up in flames.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but could not stop the flames from destroying their home. The house in Gazania Crescent, Pine Ridge needs rebuilding and materials. Various businesses have assisted in this task.

“The family had a tuck shop which was a form of income, but as the electrical cables were destroyed, they can not continue their business and have no other form of income,” said Nkosi on Monday.


The remains of the burnt home in Gazania Crescent.

Mr Andile Sibande from a company in Johannesburg also vouched to assist the family.

The drop-off point is at 109 Gazania Crescent, Pine Ridge.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
