The man was assaulted with a spade and iron bar. The 29-year-old man was accused of stealing in Lushaba’s room. The victim also happens to be Lushaba’s landlord.

Lushaba and the other five suspects got bail of R7 000 each and out of the six arrested, only Lushaba was found guilty and sentenced at the Witbank Magistrate Court.

“The lesson behind this sentencing is to not take the law into your own hands. If you accuse someone of committing crime, you are encouraged to call the police and they will deal with the person accordingly,” advised Lt Col Solly Thobejane.

Major General Kekana applauded the investigating officer, Sgt John Mahlangu on a job well done and making sure that fairness prevails.
