The body that was found in a cornfield next to the R555 between Clewer and Ogies is believed to be one of a person that went missing two weeks ago.

The body that was recovered on March 13 has allegedly been linked to the missing person from Clewer.

“We have arrested two suspects regarding this gruesome discovery but the investigation is still going on,” said Col One Thobejane from Vosman Police Station.


The scene where a decomposed body was found, on a farm between Clewer and Ogies.

Two weeks ago the South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) held a search for the missing person but nothing came up but information leading to the two suspects that was arrested. It later came to light that one of the suspects is a well known sangoma in the Vosman area.

“We took the suspect to his home to go shows us out on remains but did not get anything until now,” Col Thobejane confirmed.

At his premises police found two huts that is believed to be used for traditional healing, in the hut they found all sorts of ‘muti’ made of unknown ingredients. The K-9 unit assisted the scene,

“What scares me the most is that the K-9 dog did not want to go into one of the huts, as if she was afraid of what she felt in there,” said K-9 owner André Smit.

The remains of the decomposed body will be taken to the forensic lab for DNA tests.
