On Monday, March 5, ER24 got a callout about a body that was found next to the road. On arrival one of the paramedics declared the child dead and gave the scene over to Witbank Police.

With further investigation on the pathology side it came to light that the body was one of a five year old toddler that died of natural causes, namely pneumonia.

The child’s exact time of death could not be determined as it could have been on Sunday night, March 4 or on Monday morning.


The scene where the body of a five year old was found on the morning of March 5.

It was confirmed that the child was well looked after. As the toddler died of natural causes, no case will be opened.

The police are asking the parents to come and identify their child. They can contact the SAPS pathology on 013 656 0981.
