One of the initiatives they do is the ‘adopt a cop’ project which sees police visit various schools to search learners for drugs, dangerous weapons, firearms and alcohol.

On Tuesday, February 20, Sgt David Ratau (Adopt a cop of the school) together with other SAPS officials thoroughly searched all classes of Witbank High School. Several dagga sachets were found.

Learner’s cell phones were confiscated and handed over to the principal as the school rules clearly stipulate that no cell phones are allowed during school hours.

Head of Visible Policing at Witbank SAPS, Col Abel Khumalo described the operation as successful. He warned scholars that a similar operation will continue in schools all around eMalahleni, as this is done to secure an environment which is crime free so scholars can focus on their education.
