Vosman have reported that they are investigating five cases of business robbery.

They are investigating the first case which happened at Ferrobank. A 37 year old security guard reported that he was on duty on Monday, February 12 at about 01:00 with a colleague inside the guard room when they were accosted by four unknown suspects. One of the suspects pointed a firearm at them; they then tied them with cable ties and left them inside the guard room. They heard something breaking. A vehicle was heard driving inside the yard and the suspects took some items and drove away.

The items that were taken included 32 computer screens, three truck batteries, a hard drive, a camera accessories box and cell phone with a total value of R150 000.

In the second incident a business robbery was reported at KwaGuqa in Extension 18 in Empumelelweni on Wednesday, February 14 at about 02:00 next to the Erma Creche. Upon arrival at the crime scene the police found the landlord Ms Anna Msiza and her neighbour Solly Makane. According to Ms Msiza, the owner of the shop, Mr Habetama Arefcho was robbed by unknown suspects who assaulted him. The victim was taken to Witbank Hospital by his brother Awamo Dlamo for treatment.

In the third robbery, Mafutha Supermarket at Vosman was robbed on Tuesday, February 13 at about 20:00. The shop owner told the police that he was inside his shop when three suspects entered the shop and pointed firearms at him. He ran to the neighbours screaming for help. When it was quiet he went back and found that an amount of R400 in cash had been stolen.

In another business robbery case reported at the police station, Cherinet Endashan, an Ethiopian national reported that his shop at KwaGuqa in Empumelelweni Exention 16 had been robbed. He reported that on Thursday, February 15 at about 23:00 he was asleep with his brother in a room next to the shop when he heard a sound in the shop.

Within minutes two unknown suspects entered his room and pointed firearms at them. They searched them and took R4 500 in cash, a Samsung J1 and Nokia cell phones. The value of all the items taken is R7 300. The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

In another business robbery case, a 31 year-old shop owner reported that on Friday, February 16 at about 01:30 his shop was robbed. He reported that he was asleep at his shop when he heard the sound of a breaking door. He woke up and checked and he was approached by three unknown suspects. One of the suspects held him at gunpoint while the other suspects searched him and took R400 in cash, airtime and cigarettes. The value of all the items taken is R14 560. The suspects fled the scene on foot.

The police are concerned about the high number of business robberies in their area. No arrests have been made as yet.
