Eskom has to wait until August until they can make their next move.
Late last week the High Court in Pretoria interdicted Eskom from interrupting power supply to Emalahleni Local Municipality until all the concerned parties will see each other in court again in August.
On February 6 the Deputy Judge President awarded a date and enrolled the application for hearing on August 14 to August 16.
Local attorney, Mr Johan Coetzee who is acting on behalf of the Save Emalahleni Action Group, said their intervention application compels the provincial and national executives to intervene in the municipal affairs. This matter will be heard on February 19.

Coetzee successfully launched an urgent application in the High Court on Tuesday, December 12 to stop Eskom from disrupting electricity to the municipality.
He argued that Eskom decided to interrupt the electricity despite the fact that the community have taken all reasonable steps and exhausted all legal remedies at their disposal to force the local municipality, the provincial and national executives to fulfil their constitutional obligations towards the community.
As of Monday, February 5 the municipality’s current account with Eskom was R68 129 942.85. They owe Eskom R1 514 838 979.65 on outstanding debt.
