According to Selege, he was with Benjamin Mangayi and other people at the plot when they were assaulted by Mr Tebogo Mashile (29) after he accused them of theft.

They were accused of stealing a television. While they were being assaulted by the suspect, who was hitting them with his gun, the suspect was joined by other people in the assault.

“Our hands and feet were tied and we were assaulted from 08:00 in the morning until 16:00. They were using cables and sjamboks to assault us. We were badly assaulted and we were not given a chance to respond to allegations of the television theft. Mangayi was badly assaulted and had to be admitted at the hospital and unfortunately died the following day after his admission at the hospital,” said Selege.
Selege was also admitted to hospital and discharged after a day.
According to Mangayi’s brother he was buried at home in Mozambique.

Selege said he was afraid to go back to work at the plot after the assault.
The suspect was arrested and appeared in court on January 21 and police are investigating a case of assault and murder.
