Vehicle hijacked in Kinross found at Hlalanikahle cemetery

The 29 year-old complainant reported that his vehicle, a silver Rio Kia registration number DR 82 NW GP, was hijacked at gunpoint at a Kinross four-way stop on Tuesday, January 23 at about 21:00.

The complainant stated that he was driving his vehicle then stopped at the fourway stop at Kinross when a maroon Audi drove past him and stopped in front, blocking his way.

Two unknown armed suspects alighted from the Audi and one of the suspects came to the driver’s side while the other suspect went to the passenger’s side. They instructed him to open the door and he did so then he was ordered to move to the back seat.

He sat with the other suspect there with his hands tied with a cable and they drove for a short distance and stopped.

They took him to the boot of the vehicle and then drove off again. They stopped along the road and asked him about the tracker and then continued to drive. He heard the doors of the vehicle opening and managed to untie his hands and pushed the rear seat to get out.

The vehicle was in the middle of the cemetry and he walked to the Engen garage where he asked for help and they called his family. He was taken to the Vosman Police Station and opened a case. The vehicle was then was towed to station. The vehicle is valued at
R 147 000.

Police are investigating a case of hijacking with no arrests as yet.
