South African Community Crime Watch (SACCW) technical assistance was provided along with SACCW responders from Highveld Park and Model Park neighbourhood watch.

While the police investigated the scene the SACCW responders assisted in the search for the suspect on the run for over three hours before the police then called off the manhunt.

Later, on January 20 at 22:00, SACCW received another call from a concerned resident in a security complex in Model Park of an unknown man inside the complex seemingly hiding from someone or something. SACCW responders in Model Park and Highveld Park neighbourhood were dispatched and on arrival found the third suspect that got away earlier.

The suspect came to a stop because of his foot being seriously injured in the chase before he was positively identified by the police and was arrested on scene.
