With nothing much to hold onto, seriously injured Mr Nelson Lebyane clings onto the steering wheel and windscreen wipers.

The accident occurred on Saturday, January 27 at 01:00 on the N4 highway bringing all traffic to a stop.

Three vehicles were involved in the collision. Mr Sknumbuzo Maphanga was driving a white Isuzu truck that was loaded with pressed wood. Mr Ronny Chikosho was driving a white Mercedes Benz tanker. It is alleged that both Chikosho and Maphanga were travelling towards the N4 Middleburg Toll Plaza.

Rodney Maluleka from Langamed Emergency Management services shines the torch in Mr Nelson Lebyane’s eyes to check his condition.

It appears that Maphanga was stopped on the side of the road when he was hit by the Mercedes truck. The momentum pushed Maphanga’s truck in all directions on the road. The out of control truck went through the island into oncoming traffic.

Mr Nelson Lebyane (66) was driving his mini bus towards Johannesburg.

Gerrie Dalgleish, Charles Chanza and Dino Padayachee from Langamed Emergency Management services prepare to move Mr Nelson Lebyane, while Lindiwe Ngoma from ER24 gets ready to help.

The mini bus hit the side of the Isuzu truck head on at first, before it swung around.
