The Shabani family in Hlalanikahle are living in fear after their two children were kidnapped.
Police are looking for a gang of three unknown suspects who broke into the house on Sunday, January 20 and kidnapped the 13-year-old Gabisile Shabani and the 15-month-old Nkosikhona Welcome Ngwenya.

Ms Anna Shabani (50) related how she was awakened by the sound of breaking glass. She saw three men busy breaking a window in the sitting room to gain entrance. Once inside the house one of the men showed her a firearm and told her to stand still.
While in shock she walked back to her room and the men followed her, pressed her down and blocked her mouth with a hand.
The suspects first grabbed her daughter Gabisile and then her grandson Nkosikhona.

Ms Nompumelelo Ngwenya, Nkosikhona’s mother said they found her asleep with her child and told her to keep quite while they pointed a gun at her. She said they were speaking with an English accent and they sounded like foreigners.
“I tried shouted for help but no one responded and I also tried to follow the kidnappers to see what car and what direction they were taking but they were nowhere to be found. I felt so helpless and I’m very traumatised by the ordeal. We are putting our faith in God and I have also told members of my church and asked for prayers.”
