The 31 year-old victim reported that on Thursday, January 11 at about 14:43 his shop at Seeke Street in Thushanang was robbed of R1 156, 64 in cash, a Samsung Galaxy J2 and a Samsung Galaxy Prime cell phones, his driver’s licence, bank cards and ID card were taken. The shop owner stated that the robbery took place when a Coca Cola delivery truck had come to deliver at his shop.

The victim left the shop and went to the truck and a suspect opened the drivers door where the driver was sitting and fired one shot instructing him to drive with them.

The suspect with a firearm drove with them and demanded money that they had collected from the last shop. According to the police report, the driver was given instructions on which direction to take. Along the way the suspect fired a shot after he failed to open a money safe. The driver and his crew were told to get off the truck and they ran in different directions.

The driver was able to receive help from a passerby who called the company.

No arrest has been made and police are investigating cases of armed robbery and hijack.
