House broken into just before New Year’s and on Christmas day

The suspects gained entry into the house through the glass sliding door.

Two residents from eMalahleni were robbed of their personal belongings just before New Year’s and on Christmas day.

The first house robbery took place on Saturday, December 30 at 02:50 when Mr Mxolisi Madela alleged that he was sleeping and woke up when he heard a sound next to his bed.

Not sure what the noise was at first, he looked up and there stood an unknown man next to his bed.

The suspect had a cloth over his face and was armed with a knife. When he looked around his room he noticed that another person was standing by the door with a firearm.

Madela recalls the suspects speaking Zulu to one another in the bedroom; there were another two suspects in the other part of the house.

The suspects wanted Madela’s cell phone and laptop.

After a couple of minutes, which seemed like an hour for Madela, the suspects had left the house.

He went to investigate to see where the suspects had gained entry into the house.

The suspects gained entry into the house through the glass sliding door.

The electric fence that surrounds the premises had been cut as the electricity was off that evening.

The suspects got away with cell phones, a laptop and a television.

On Christmas day after everyone celebrated a nice day together there is nothing better than going home to relax and jump into bed.

For Ms H. Zulu that was not the case.

On Monday, December 25 at 21:00 she alleged that she was at home with her sister and all the doors and windows were locked.

They then heard someone knocking on the door and it was the neighbour.

The neighbour then said that he had bought electricity but the box was off.

That is when Zulu opened the door, the person at the door was however not her neighbour but a suspect.

Once the door was open the suspect place something over Zulu’s head and held a knife against her throat.

Zulu’s sister rushed over to help, but she was also held up. The suspects then tied up both of the women.

The suspects then took a laptop, television and cell phones and left the scene.
