The neighbours wake to the devastating and sad news of the murdered young women, a mother of two young children.
The sad news spread like wild fire in the small community of Kromdraai on Friday, November 10.

According to the police the Dhlamini family were attacked by three unknown suspects at about 21:30 on Thursday night.

Gogo Hlangulu Martha Dhlamini related that the she heard a dog barking outside and when she looked through the window she could not see anything. On second look she saw a person breaking a window; another suspect was seen fiddling with the security door of the kitchen. While she was screaming they entered the house and started assaulting them. Her daughter, Phumelelo tried to escape but she could not and her two young children were not spared the assault with a sjambok and the suspects demanded money.


The late Phumelele Dhlamini whose body was found in the early hours of Friday morning on November 10 by a passerby going to work.

One of the suspect had a firearm and their hands were tied with cables and they started taking goods from the house. They took the car, a Toyota Corolla (registration DHP 383 MP) and Phumelele was ordered to drive with them after loading the property into the car. They took away a micro oven, a DVD player, electric kettle, a duvet, blankets and three Samsung cell phones.

She was found killed in the early hours of the morning at about 06:00 by a passerby going to work a few metres from the house.

His brother Thulani Dhlamini said her sister Phumelele was a very kind person. “She loved and was loved by many people in the area. She loved her children and her business. She use to call me everyday and we were very close to each other and it is a sad loss to the family and to lose her in such way,” said Thulani.
