The green card is not a SASSA card

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is urging and warning all beneficiaries that a green card is not a SASSA card.

South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is urging and warning all beneficiaries that a green card is not a SASSA card. The green cards are given to SASSA beneficiaries by money lending companies because it makes it easier for these lenders to make deductions from the social grant.

SASSA has noticed and are worried that there are some beneficiaries who are still using the green card to receive their grants.

Beneficiaries must note that SASSA has no control over the green card and it does not recognise it. All social grant recipients who utilise the green card are not protected if something happens to their social grant. The only recognised and protected card is the SASSA payment card. SASSA is making a call to beneficiaries to stick with their SASSA payment card to access social grants.

Beneficiaries must stop using green cards and they are welcome to visit their nearest SASSA offices at any time to get help. SASSA cards are only available at SASSA offices, not in other offices or from people who pretend to be SASSA officials.
