A 33-year-old businessman was warned by the robbers not to report the matter to the police.

On October 17 the man was travelling from Verena to eMalahleni along the Verena Road when he noticed that a car was following him at about 19:45.

He slowed down to allow traffic and the car to pass.

Four cars passed him, of which one was a Mercedes A Class, which barred the road. He was forced to stop, at this time four armed suspects made their way to his car and held him at gunpoint; they pulled him from his car and searched him.

They took his cellular phone as well as the R2 500 he had on him.

They forced him into the Mercedes and drove back to Verena, one of the suspects climbed into his car and followed them.

While en route to Verena the suspects interrogated the man addressing him by his surname asking him where the money was, telling him that they knew he was working with a lot of money and that he had a truck.

They threatened him not to go to the police and report the robbery, saying that they would track him down and kill him.

The vehicles came to a stop at Hertzog Mountain; the suspects released the man and escorted him at gunpoint back to his car.

He got into his car and drove to eMalahleni where he immediately reported the incident to the police.
