“My brother was hijacked, it was my car,” said Mr Adino Aliye.

Aliye’s brother was travelling from Vosman to Cash and Carry in eMalahleni when he was hijacked.

The hijacking took place on August 21 at about 20:30.

“He went to go buy groceries and food stuffs from town, they were bringing the food stuffs back to be loaded when he was hijacked,” said Aliye.

Aliye’s brother was stopped by three men, one of which held Aliye’s brother at gunpoint, the passenger in the Toyota Hilux attempted to flee. One of the armed robbers opened fire in his direction.

The passenger was shot in the leg and later taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspects pulled Aliye’s brother from the car and got into the vehicle they then drove off with the bakkie, fully loaded with groceries to the value of R50 000.

In another instance a Hino truck was hijacked on Mandela Drive on August 18 in the early evening at about 18:30.
According to reports the driver of the truck, a 44-year-old man, stopped alongside the road to urinate when the hijacking took place.

A vehicle pulled up in front of the truck and an armed suspect came out and raised the firearm pointing it in the truck driver’s direction.

The truck driver was ordered to get back to his truck before being hijacked.
The truck is valued at R1.5-million with registration BH89FDGP.
