On Sunday, August 27 at 06:00 on the Verena Road near the Leeupoort plots a robbery occurred.
Mr Bernard Masango alleged that he was on duty for a mining company, busy doing patrols.
While patrolling, he noticed three unknown men who were armed with firearms. Not sure what they were doing on the premises he walked towards them to question them.

They then pulled out their firearms and held him up; the one suspect said that Masango must keep quiet. The other two suspects took the battery out of the generator and then left the premises. Police attended the case and the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate case on Wednesday, August 23 at 20:30 at a filling station garage in Extension 10, a cashier on duty was held up.

Mr Cassian Sikhosana alleged that he was on duty when suddenly two men came into the shop.
Sikhosana recalls one suspect had a firearm in his hand; they walked straight to the till.

“The one suspect just started taking money from the till, while the other started helping himself to the cigarettes,” recalls Sikhosana.

The money and cigarettes were placed in a white plastic bag and the suspects ran away from the scene. Members from the Local Criminal Record Centre attended the scene.

On the same day at 14:34, Ms Maryzynk Naude alleged that she was working in the store when she noticed that two unknown men walked into the shop.

One of the suspects had a firearm and ordered that she open up the till.
The other suspects in the shop were ordered to go to the bathroom.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the shop. Members of the Local Criminal Record Centre attended the scene, and the case will be investigated.
