Deputy director in the office of the municipal manager, Mr Sizwe Mayisela, has been officially appointed as an acting municipal manager.
A council meeting, which was held on August 31 took a resolution that Mayisela should be appointed to act in the position after Mr Theo Van Vuuren’s contract lapsed.
Mayisela will act in the position until a municipal manager is officially appointed.
The position will be re-advertised after the panel decided that the scope should be broadened.
“Mayisela was introduced to staff members on September 1 and he made a commitment, together with staff members, to turn the fortunes of the Emalahleni Local Municipality around and improve service delivery,” said municipal spokesperson Mr Kingdom Mabuza.
