Disbelief and shock is still in the air after the armed robbery wherein a couple was fatally shot.

Mr Willy Allison (54) and his wife, Glenda (60), were killed in their home in Browning Street on Sunday, August 13 during an armed robbery.

Instead of making arrangements to celebrate Willy’s birthday on Monday, August 21, the family is arranging the funeral.

Ms Linah Makola, who had been working for Glenda for over 20 years, said she can’t get the sound of the shots out of her head. She was in her room during the break-in.

“Willy always told me that if something should happen I should stay in my room and hide until they phone me to come out. I could hear the gunshots, I counted five. Then I waited until there were no more sounds coming from the house,” Makola said.

Makola waited for the phone call from Glenda, but it did not come.

She only realised what happened when she went outside and found Glenda.

People living in the neighbourhood said the shots tore through the evening sounds.

“We knew something terrible was wrong when we heard the shots. It sounded as if it was happening right in front of us,” a woman said.

She also said she saw five men with balaclavas flee the yard after the shots.
