Employees that have not been paid for allegedly the last two months went on strike.

On Monday, July 24 at about 07:30 LWJV employees and other contractor’s employees gathered at Wilge 336 Eskom Unit Accommodation (Kusile Project) striking for not receiving their pay for two months.

They chose four delegates to submit their memorandum to Kusile Power Station and one of the Eskom representatives received it and promised that they will further communicate with them telephonically. The police from Ogies Police Station monitored the strike from Friday, July 21 but no one came to address them. The strike was not violent and it was controllable.

This comes a week after the strike that took place on Monday, July 17 at Kusile Power Station.

Community members from Vosman embarked on a protest, roads to Vosman, the N4 highway and roads and entrances to Kusile Power Station were affected due to the incident that occurred on Friday.

On Friday, July 14 a group of about 20 people seeking employment arrived at Vitrovian House in Geringer Street.
It’s alleged that the group went inside the building, questioning the people about the employment that they were promised.
