Protesters have decided to change their ways to voice their concerns.

No more burning of tyres, blocking the roads with debris or burning of property including cars. Instead they decided to use delivery trucks to offload on the road and use the truck or buss to block the road.

During a protest on Monday, July 17 on the N4 Highway they used delivery trucks and buses to block the busy highway.

Truck driver Mr Petros Hlatshwayo of Sahara said he was on his way to deliver coal at Ferrobank when he met a group of more than 50 people who ordered him to off load both sides of the road and use the truck to block the road as well. He said they also took away the truck keys.


A front loader used to clear bricks which were offloaded on the N4 Highway.

“They told me that they are not going to burn the truck but I must just follow their instructions to do as instructed.”
