A Community Policing Forum (CPF) workshop at Ogies SAPS was held by the Cooperate Communication Officer of both Phola SAPS and Ogies SAPS, Constable Thabang Petros Mabena.

A Community Policing Forum (CPF) workshop at Ogies SAPS was held by the Cooperate Communication Officer of both Phola SAPS and Ogies SAPS, Constable Thabang Petros Mabena.

This was held with the Department of Safety for both the newly elected Community Policing Forum Structures of Phola and Ogies on Tuesday, June 6.

The workshop took place at Ogies SAPS boardroom at 11:00 and it was conducted by Mr Vuyisile Sibanyoni (Deputy Director) and Mrs Mamsie Cibi (Assistant Director) from the Department of Safety.

From the SAPS, Captain Amos Velaphi Mlangeni (Ogies SAPS Station Commander), Warrant Officer Fana Lucas Maphosa (Ogies SAPS Vispol Commander), Constable Zaire Mkhabele (Ogies SAPS Sector Manager) were also present in the workshop.


Members who attended the CPF workshop at the Ogies SAPS on Tuesday, June 6.

The workshop went very well, the CPF members were taught about the purpose of the Community Policing Forum in that it is for crime prevention of all types of crimes in the community.

Their responsibilities as CPF members are to maintain a partnership between the community and the Service, promote communication between the Service and the community, promote cooperation between the Service and the community in fulfilling the needs of the community regarding policing, improving transparency in the Service and accountability of the Service to the community and promoting joint problem identification and problem solving by the police and the community.

The Assistant Director, Mamsie Cibi, closed by emphasizing that in order for CPF to fulfil this mandate it ought to develop a strategy and conceptualise a plan and then explained how.
