Edcon advises its customers to be wary of fraudsters

A woman was robbed by an imposter who pretended to be a Jet Stores shop assistant.

Edcon has responded to the robbery that took place two weeks ago at Highland Mews.

A woman was robbed by an imposter who pretended to be a Jet Stores shop assistant. Even though one suspect posed as a shop’s employee, it was actually two suspects that robbed her.


A woman was robbed at Highlands Mews where two suspects followed her to the top parking lot. She was robbed her cell phone and bank cards.

The first suspect, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, offered to assist the woman open a clothing account with the store, while the second suspect was dressed in a white t-shirt and jeans ‘pretending’ to be shopping in the same section as she was browsing for her sons clothes.

The woman left the store without purchasing anything. The two suspects followed her to the parking lot and she was robbed of her cell phone and bank cards.


The woman was robbed while visiting Highland Mews. The incident took place at the top parking lot on Friday, May 26.

An Edcon spokesperson said that they are conducting their own internal investigation in this regard. Edcon wants to advise its customers to be cautious when approached by strangers in a mall or in one of their stores.

All Jet Store employees will have name badges on and only specific staff members are able to assist customers with opening of accounts. Edcon encourages its customers to be on the lookout for fraudsters.

Customers should immediately contact the store manager on duty to report anything untoward taking place on the shop floor.
